photographer / mixed media artist / owner
I bought my first SLR camera when I was 12 and fell in love. Art has always played an important role in my life and I have been fortunate enough to find my voice as a painter and musician as well as photographer. However, it is through the lens that I have found my greatest skills, my career and ultimately, my wife. I began learning the fundamentals of photographing art in the mid 90’s by shooting my own work in order to begin exhibiting my paintings. In College, I began shooting slides for friends who were applying to graduate school. Soon I was shooting slides for friends of friends and so on. When the digital age took hold of the camera, film made way for pixels and I fell in love all over again. What began as a means to an end had blossomed into a calling. I opened the doors to Artist Eye Portfolio Studio in 2004.
The skills I have acquired from photographing a broad spectrum of artwork over the years, I apply to my jewelry photography and commercial product photography; always mindful not to take the focus away from the subject. Amongst other techniques, I use light and shadow as a tool, helping draw the eye to the work being photographed. Once there, the subject is presented with an acute attention to detail and composition. My clients are creative and I enjoy the collaboration that occurs in order to create the perfect photographs. Most importantly, I love what I do.
I am originally from the beautiful state of Alaska and now reside in the beautiful state of Washington, Seattle to be exact, with my wife Tam, our son Ever and Boston Terrier Sukie.
